A former candidate for Crawford County coroner has been charged with driving under the influence, according to the Edgar County Watchdogs (ECW).

Stephen Skidmore, who lost his bid for coroner in last year's election, was pulled over for failing to use his turn signal on June 5. He was arrested on a DUI charge in the same incident.

Skidmore is scheduled to appear at the Crawford County Courthouse on August 14.

The ECW said this is not the first time Skidmore has been in trouble with the law. Skidmore allegedly lied in an interview about his arrest record and denied being taken into custody. In response, the ECW said it provided Skidmore with a detailed description of his arrest history, including his refusal to take a breathalyzer test, pleading guilty and paying a $1,200 fine for a previous DUI charge.
