The village of Oblong Finance Committee met Oct. 25 to review liability insurance bids.

Present: Finance Chairperson Rick Catt, Finance Committee Member Ken Russell, Finance Committee Member Jay Haines, Mayor Randy Rich, Clerk Ladora Boyd and Treasurer/Deputy Clerk Jan Miller.Others: Public Works Superintendent Gary Lanter, Police Chief Chad Pusey, Teresa Fielder, Susie Jayne (IML/Risk Management Association), Rick Hamilton (Weber Insurance) and Tyler Devonshire (Weber Insurance).
The Finance Committee met in the Clerk/Treasurer’s Office to discuss and ask questions about the Village’s Property/Liability/Workers’ Comp insurance bids from Weber Insurance and Illinois Municipal League/Risk Management Association representatives.Rick C. asked for each representative to state how their coverages are different from the other. Susie stated what IML/RMA would do for the Village if they are the insurer. Rick H. stated what HCC and IPRF would do for the Village if they are the insurer. There were some questions from the Trustee and employees of the Village. There was also some discussion on how issues would be handled. Rick C. thanked both representative for coming to answer the questions that were asked.The meeting closed at 11:00 am.
