Middle School Board Report submitted by Stacy Keyser

Thank you to all the teachers, students, family and friends who attended the 8th grade recognition and academic awards night! Overall, Cumberland Middle School had a wonderful 2015-16 school year and we are looking forward to more positive things to come for the 2016-17 school year!

The cross country, baseball, and softball teams will be getting organized in July to start their fall seasons. Please keep an eye on local newspapers and the district’s Facebook page for information from the coaches. We look forward to great sports seasons next year. All of the 2016-17 sports schedules are on the school website.

The Toledo Clinic will offer sports physicals at a cost of $20 on Wednesday, July 6. Patients can walk-in and insurance will not be billed. All students participating in any sports during the 2016-17 school year, MUST have a physical on file prior to beginning any athletics. Thanks again to Keith Ballinger and his staff for providing this opportunity for our student athletes and their families.

The royalties and rights have been secured for the Spring 2017 Cumberland Drama production of The Lion King, Junior. Thanks to St. Anthony High School for allowing us to rent their wonderful costumes for our show this year.

I am planning many exciting new projects and curriculum opportunities for our students for the coming year! Thanks to the custodians, maintenance men, Mr. Wheeler, and secretaries for all of their hard work and preparation during the summer! We appreciate you greatly!

Elementary School Board Report from Daniel Huffman

Congratulations to Jennie Holsapple for receiving the Neal Foundation Teacher of the Year Award.

We had an awesome end to the school year. Everyone worked hard to make the last days special for the students.

Several teachers/staff members will be in different rooms starting in the fall. Thank you to those staff members, the janitors, and maintenance department for their extra work in getting everything coordinated for the moves.

The janitors and maintenance departments are working hard to get the building ready for next year. The building will look great; a lot of deep cleaning is taking place.

Diana, Janel, and Sheila have been working on end of the year reports and preparing for the next school year. They do a lot of behind the scenes work that is necessary to keep everything running smoothly. All of their work is greatly appreciated.

Registration will be August 9th from 8:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the high school.

Kindergarten pre-registration/screening was a success on May 25th. There are still several more students that we have on record that still need to pre-register. The parents of those students need to come to the grade school in July from 7:00-2:00 p.m. with their child’s birth certificate and proof of residency to pre-register their child so he/she will be ready for the district-wide registration in August.

Thank you to the local Master Gardeners who recently spent time working in the courtyard area. They trimmed the trees and shrubbery making the area look much better. (I saw Nancy Sowers and Ann Brandenburg, but there were others working)

Tina Booker, our part time speech/language pathologist, will continue working a 2 day work- week combination next year. Her week will be Tuesdays, Wednesdays, or Thursdays to avoid the Monday holiday conflicts that she has had in the past. She will be letting me know the exact days of the 3 that she will be working before school starts.
