School district for Lawrence, Crawford counties posts nine job changes
With members of the press in attendance along with administrators, Community Unit School District 20’s board of education for Lawrence County and Crawford County met at 7 p.m. Feb. 17 at Parkside Elementary School.
Mike Seitzinger was named president pro tempore during the meeting. He commended the boys’ basketball team and coaches for wearing orange at a recent game to show solidarity for a coach whose daughter has leukemia.
After Parkside Principal Julie Hayes, Parkview Principal Jeremy Brush, LHS Principal Paul Higginbotham and Superintendent Doug Daugherty presented respective updates on recent accomplishments and upcoming events, the board approved action items, unanimously authorizing one fiscal resolution, a grading scale for the school year of 2016-17 and a high school curriculum guide.
Additionally, the board passed a motion to approve a district drug testing for school year 2016-17, went into executive session and then reconvened to announce three resignations, one retirement, two new employee hires and posting of three vacant job positions.
The positions of high school business instructor, junior high school cheer coach and bus driver were announced as posts.
Resigning employees are Gina Campbell, bus driver Kimber Gaither and Parkview cheerleader coach Miranda Bolden. Joe Rose will retire at the end of the 2015-16 school year. New hires include Monna Pinkston as Parkview track coach and Lacee Howder as LHS volunteer assistant softball coach.
