Registration for the upcoming Booth Library creative research competition is now open to students.

Eastern Illinois University’s (EIU) Booth Library, currently sponsoring its “Awards for Excellence in Student Research and Creativity” program through March 25, is seeking art, writing, music, performance, documentary, exhibit and other creative formats.

All EIU students are eligible for the program, which offers prizes of up to $300.00. In addition to cash prizes, various certificates will be distributed for honorable mentions. Work must have been rendered within the last 12 months; award recipients will be selected on criteria including quality, creativity and the use of research resources.

Digital copies of award entries that are accepted will become part of the Booth Library’s institutional collection, a repository called “The Keep.” The awards do not replicate or substitute for any existing campus honors, a university representative stated.

Participants must deliver their entries to room 4700 in the administration office of Booth Library no later than March 25. Recipients will be selected by April 8, and winners will be announced during National Library Week, April 11-15.

Students may access the 2016 guidelines and entry materials at http://library.eiu.edu.

The awards program encourages students to make the most of Booth Library’s abundant information, including archival resources, as they advance in their studies. The library sponsors activities annually.
