The Casey City Council recently met to review contracts and committee collaborations.
The Casey City Council convened at 6 p.m. on Feb. 1 at Casey City Hall to handle routine business and to hear progress reports about ongoing projects and collaborations.
With no public forum that evening, the council first held an executive session for customary discussion of union negotiations, personnel, and any possible litigation matters before resuming an open session. Minutes for January were approved.
January bills totaling $542,828.82 were approved following a motion by Sharon Carlen. Treasurer Gail Lorton requested approval of January reports for collection deposit as well as the December 2015 cash and investments statement. The January collection deposit report totaling $558,310.40 was unanimously approved along with the December 2015 statement of cash and investments of $9,885,411.68.
Carlen reported on a meeting held Jan. 26 regarding the park district tax levy and future park improvements. She called for a meeting to allow further discussion on park operations to be held on Feb. 8. Michael Nichols called for a salary and license committee meeting, also Feb. 8, to discuss and review the union contract.
Nichols, serving as chairman of the public utility committee, reported that the committee met on Jan. 26 to review the proposed waterline contract with the City of Marshall.
