Registration is now open for an online seminar sponsored by the Mattoon Chamber of Commerce to address workplace crisis management.

“Crisis Management in Today’s World” will be moderated from 10:30 a.m. to noon Wednesday by attorneys Jon Hoag & Nick Kourvetaris of SmithAmundsen, a Chicago-based firm. The webinar, co-sponsored by the Illinois Chamber of Commerce, is designed to help businesses embed important elements of crisis management into their everyday plans for optimum readiness.

“Today’s workplace is growing accustomed to fast-paced information and opinion sharing,” the course facilitators said, explaining that when a crisis of any kind occurs, the ramifications can be immediate and far-reaching with information spreading more quickly and easily than ever before.

Noting that media coverage can significantly magnify or reveal even minute details, the event sponsors counsel readiness in order to avoid issues such as liability and public relations incidents.

Participants will learn to develop a crisis management plan; determine what to consider when updating an existing plan; build a crisis team; provide for effective internal communications; handle the media; and have a prepared system for post-crisis evaluation.
