Arcola education board agrees on assorted decisions, projects
The Arcola Community Unit District 306 board of education approved appointments, agreements and pending projects during its Jan. 13 meeting in Arcola.
President Chad Strader welcomed visitors. With no public comments offered, the board authorized the acceptance of previous bills, payroll, minutes and reports.
Two individuals were approved for responsibilities: Jenny Frichtl, as the authorized agent for the Arcola School District with IMRF, and Desi Smith as high school clerk.
The board approved a non-certified staff seniority list, as well as a request for students to be able to attend Parkland College courses off campus next school year. Also granted were field trip requests for the sixth grade to visit the Chicago Field Museum, JH Student Council, FFA, AFS Trip and Winter Guard; and Douglas County Health Department was endorsed to provide social work services.
A quote from Allred’s Floor Service Company to sand, paint, refinish and provide extra painting for the junior high gym floor totaling under $25,000 was given the go-ahead, as was an agreement with Common Goal Systems.
Various administrators also gave reports, with the superintendent relaying results from the building committee meeting regarding maintenance work.
Member Angie Gentry noted that Arcola was selected for a state study; Sigrist announced successful athletic and coaching ventures.
The group entered an executive session at 7:47 p.m., before returning to regular session at 8:25 and opting to approve the partial release of closed session minutes.
