The Casey-Westfield education board recently gathered to appoint a new treasurer and authorize building work.

District No. C-4 of the Casey-Westfield Board of Education of Clark County appointed Sandra Hibschman as district treasurer on Monday.

Following a closed session to discuss matters of student discipline, the board reconvened in an open session, acting on recommendations of the closed session.

After appointing Hibschman to the treasurer's post, the board reviewed financial reports, authorized bills and previous meeting minutes, and officially approved the 2016-17 school calendar. Additionally, the board discussed and acted on the issue of General Obligation Bonds to support work on school buildings and equipment purchase. It then reviewed and awarded a bid for district roofing work.

The Wabash Valley Division Meeting was announced for 6:30 p.m. March 1 at Effingham High School. Administration will present building reports, along with representatives of Monroe, the junior-senior high school and the district.

The board adjourned to a second closed session related to employment, collective bargaining and salaries, real estate matters, and closed meeting minutes.

After reconvening to open session, the board acted on approvals for five consent agenda items before final adjournment — including recommendations for support staff, certified staff, administrative staff and co-curricular items, as well as closed-session minutes from Jan. 25.
