Charleston chamber members have been reaping the benefits of the electric program.

Charleston chamber members are being urged to join 55 fellow affiliates who have already taken advantage of the Stone River Group’s exclusive annual savings incentive program by applying for utility discounts from now until March 10.

Don Frontone, the organization’s president and CEO, was able to successfully negotiate a fixed rate per kilowatt-hour, guaranteeing local business entities a way of maintaining a simplified, secure means of purchasing commercial electricity in a market that traditionally can be fraught with ambiguity and red tape.

Chamber affiliates who are commercial customers of Ameren natural gas or Vanguard Energy stand to gain savings by choosing the program. The Stone River Group will process the request through Vanguard Energy and contact each business directly with details. According to the chamber, gas contract rates will go into effect May 1 for a one-year period.

The chamber has offered this program to its members since 2010. The combined savings for the group from 2010-2014 was nearly $350,000, with an average savings of 20 to 25 percent per business annually.

The chamber encourages members to opt in before the opportunity period ends by filling out a Request for Rate Quote form and sending it with a copy of a current natural gas bill to the chamber office by close of business March 10.
